Is there an admission fee for visiting Settsu-kyo?
Admission is free.
Q2
Is there a children’s play area at Settsu-kyo?
Sakura Square (Sakura hiroba) has a play space for children with a Tarzan rope, slides and other play equipment.
Q3Is there a shop at Settsu-kyo?
Snacks and refreshments are available at Hana-no-sato shop next to Settsu-kyo Shimo-no-kuchi Parking. There are also two shops near Sakura Square (Sakura hiroba), one of which will be open when you visit. (May be closed in winter).
Q4Can I bring a picnic to Settsu-kyo?
You are welcome to bring a picnic. There is a picnic area with benches available where you can sit and relax without being disturbed. Please make sure you clear up any leftovers or trash when you leave.

Can I have a barbecue at
Settsu-kyo?
There are outdoor barbecue facilities available at “Miyoshi-no-Sato BBQ Garden” next to Sakura Square (Sakura Hiroba). Advance reservation is required. Web: http://miyoshinosato.jp
Q6Is there a restroom?
There is a restroom on the Sakura Square (Sakura hiroba) and Settsu-kyo valley walking course (mountain stream). Please see the PDF on the Walking Course page for details.

Are there any rest area available where I can take cover if it rains?
There is a rest station with a roof in Sakura Square (Sakura hiroba), with space for five or six people. However, there is nowhere available to rest station from the rain on the hiking/walking course.
Q8Can I cycle in Settsu-kyo?
You cannot use a bicycle in Settsu-kyo. If you come here by bicycle, please park in the area next to the parking lot (free).
Q9Can I bring my pet?
You can bring small pets (such as dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, etc.) provided that they are not allowed to run loose or are kept on a lead. Owners should clean up after their pets and ensure their pets are not a nuisance to other visitors. They must take responsibility for any trouble caused to other visitors. Your cooperation and consideration is appreciated to ensure that everyone enjoys their time in the park.

Where is the nearest bus stop to Settsu-kyo?
Settsu-kyo is accessible by the Takatsuki City Bus from JR Takatsuki Station North Bus terminal (One-way fare, 220 yen). The nearest bus stop to Settsu-kyo is Shimo-no-kuchi. Please note that only two buses run on weekdays (departing from Bay 2 at JR Takatsuki Station North Bus terminal at 10:35 AM and 11:35AM). Therefore we suggest two alternative methods of travel on the Access page.

Q11Is there a car park?
You can enter the gorge at Settsu-kyo via Kami-no-kuchi on the upstream side of Akutagawa river or Shimo-no-kuchi on the downstream side. Parking facilities are available on both sites. Please click here for more details.

Can sightseeing or tour buses park here? How much is the parking charge?
Buses of any size (from minibuses to large buses) can park at the Shimo-no-kuchi parking lot. Advance reservation is required. Please contact Takatsuki City Tourist Association for details (Tel: +81 72-675-0081). The fee is 2000 yen for mini buses, 3000 yen for medium and large-size buses.

Are there snakes or bees at Settsu-kyo?
There are some biting or stinging animals and insects at Settsu-kyo that you should treat with caution, such as vipers and hornets. They are active from summer to autumn. Please be especially careful around rocks and boulders on the river bank or in areas where there are bushes and thickets. If you come across one of these creatures, back away without touching it or making a noise, and leave the area quietly.

Are there bears or wild boars in the area?
There have been no recent reports of sightings of bears or wild boars at Settsu-kyo. If we have any information about sightings of any animals such as bears in the area, we will post details on the Takatsuki city website. Please check this regularly. If you do come across a wild animal, remember these rules: "Do not approach", "Do not make eye contact", "Keep all food out of sight", "Do not offer food." Do not make eye contact, back away slowly and calmly, and leave the area.
